Calendar not saving appointments

Hello, I received my Droid X last week and promptly upgraded to Froyo. I did not use 2.1 much at all so I do not know if this is a problem with just Froyo. I enter a doctors appointment into the calendar and save it and it shows up on the calendar widget. When I I set the phone down it locks the home screen which is normal, but when I check the calendar widget there is no upcoming appointment like before. I actually open the calendar app and the appointment is completely gone. I am not sure if this is a known bug or not. Any help would be appreciated.
