Ok guys, Im getting my (first) Droid June 21, and heres the game plan:

3:30 PM - Arrive at verizon store and ditch my LG Dare for a Motorola Droid
4:15 PM - Arrive at GF's house
11:30 PM - Arrive at home
12:30 AM - Have successfully finished rooting my phone with Froyo
1:00 AM - Overclock my phone, hopefully to 1.2ghz
1:30 AM - Begin installing custom ROMs, Themes, and Apps

So.... who wants to help me setup my game plan for that? This guide looks good, but I want to make sure that it is exactly what I need:

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-hacks/49671-stock-2-1-2-2-froyo-step-step-installation.html

Some things I need help with:
1. This guide is fine right? Is there a better one?
2. If I follow this guide, will my droid be rooted? (I want the root)
3. What is the main difference between roms and themes? If I do the Froyo install, can I use any rom, or only 2.2 roms?
4. What is the best rom, in your opinion, and why?

Im gonna film the whole process, because I figure that may be helpful for people. Let me know if you have any info!

Use this guide. I think it's easier to follow.

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-hacks/49620-froyo-installation-guide-thread.html

Or, you can install RSD Lite, download SPRecovery, then simply install Froyo.

I do not have a guide to do this but it's the easiest way. Here's how you do it. It has a video too, can't be much easier.

Video: Flashing SPRecovery SBF to Stock 2.1 | Droid Life: A Motorola Droid Blog
With these guides, will it be rooted?
And from here, how do i install overclock kernels?

The first guide will have you flash back to 2.0.1. Then you it takes you through rooting your phone and installing Froyo. The second way allows SPRecovery to be installed on your Droid. When you install Froyo, latest version, your phone will then be rooted.

I think it's easier then going back to 2.0.1. But it's up to you.

Any real difference between the two options

I think you mean the lowest clock speed. I would go with the 125 because they have better battery life.

Here is a list of a few 2.2 ROMs:

You can find a lot of these roms and themes in ROM Manager of the Market. I would buy it for sure. Then you can download everything from there and it makes it a lot easier.

You can download Flash 10.1 Beta 2 here: Adobe Flash Player 10.1 10.1.72.4.apk

I would recommend getting a new launcher instead of the stock one. I would either get Launcher Pro or ADW Launcher. You can get both off the market. I prefer Launcher pro because its faster to me.

Here's my current setup. I am running Onix 1.2 with the drop theme with 1.2ghz P3Droid. Has Launcher pro 0.5.1.
