Bottom Buttons

Does anyone know if pressing the buttons on the bottom of the phone (menu, back, search, or home) will turn on the screen? This is one of the annoyances of my droid, only being able to use the small top button.

Page 7 of the user manual says this.

Wake up your phone—Turn on a sleeping touchscreen. Press Power/Lock or Menu.

The page before it only mentions pressing the power/lock button to wake up the screen, we can only hope we have options.

Page 7 is wrong. The power/lock key works but not the menu key. The home key works instead. I discovered that by accident but it is also in the getting started pamphlet.
