1) is it bad to over charge the phone, like leaving it on charge overnight, any damage to the battery?

2) is it true you should only charge when you are at a very low battery level, instead of charging even when you are at 40% or 30%. The ideal way is to charge all the way to full, then unplug, and then let it use all the way to 0%, then charge again. Or does it not matter?

You can't overcharge the battery in the Droid. I would charge it when every it's convenient. Many people here let it charge overnight.

Now, if you wish to "calibrate" the battery meter, it might be good to let the battery discharge a fair amount before charging. Don't know about this and whether it varies from app to app.

There have been many threads here on this topic. If you wish to read more, I'd do a search and locate the main threads on this topic.
