are themes specific for each rom?

Hi, I would like to install a theme in my droid but I am confused because I am afraid that it will not be compatible with my rom, what should I look for when choosing a theme? I have chevyno1 simply stunning v4.2

Usually, certain themes will only work with certain roms. Each theme creator will list what roms they will for sure work with.

Search the themes first post and see what roms they work with. Several themes have been ported to work with multiple roms. themes by roberj13 is one off the top of my head that has support for multiple roms.
