Androids answer to iMovie

I just got served by an iPhone 4 user using iMovie on her new iPhone 4. Does Android have ANYTHING that could top that? :icon_evil:

Just tell her that at least you can hold your phone like a normal person and not have to worry about obstructing the antenna.

Other than that, I got nothing for ya...

if the number one goal of your "phone" is to edit and record videos, then get an iphone 4... then see how well it uploads that video while she's holding it in her left hand

i have, however, read that the new 3G chipset in the 4 allows for MUCH faster upload speeds than previously

I wish google had the power to just buy off apple's developers. If you could combine the awesome development of the iPhone/iPad platform with the awesome openness and freedom of the Android platform, we would all be in smartphone heaven. I think that this will happen eventually for Android, as people begin to take it more seriously, but it is still hard to fault Apple's development squad when they come up with great stuff like the new iMovie.

I hear the Droid X will have something like this, so I think that means we will too, when/if it gets ported.

Look on a grand scheme here is my 2 cents for points of order..
1. How many 'iPhone' OS devices are there and at what rate are they increasing?
For android.. you can check here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Android_devices

2. How many updates in the OS has the iPhone released since its induction vs Android in terms of time frame.

3. What is the rate of expansion for the iPhones market vs that of the Android? I dont mean how many apps are there I mean chart the over all growth and tell me which has grown faster in the shortest amount of time.

And last... how many devs for iPhone are going 'Here check this out before official release!'

Oh yea.. and here is a good one to drive the point home... they can edit video.. cool. Can they get porn? Jobs seems to think only Android can do that and I can agree. I can get porn on my Android!

Ummm this is an open platform, just look what devs have done with camera apps. Look at camera 360! some really cool stuff, i bet its a matter of time before we are splicing por i mean home mov i mean videos together to make some cool stuff.

oh and on a side note to harshes 1., 77% of people buying iphone 4 are repeat buyers aka dumb consumers that only know apple.

but thats better for android. People are not flocking from Android to apple. repeat business does not grow organically or mkt share for that matter.

my droid is solid for pictures, but horrible for videos... i don't know if anybody else has experienced this, but even when i'm o/c'd with just the basics running in the background, i can't record a video without it having at least one major hiccup or moment where the sound gets significantly behind the video (or vise versa, can't remember)... not that i use it for that much, but it's been a bit frustrating at times with my kids when my phone was all we had

@carbon - i'd say your generalization is a bit much... 77% might be repeat buyers, but that doesn't make them dumb... they just prefer apple's way of doing things - simple and thoughtless, and they'll never switch to the "complex" android

on your second comment, it would be interesting if there was a way to see some sort of stats or percentages of current android customers and how many are iphone exiles... and maybe i misunderstood you, but isn't repeat business, by definition, organically grown?

maybe I am thinking of it wrong. If I take someone's money, and move them out of say Fund Family A and move them into Fund Family B I am making money, but my business has not grown, I still manage the same amount. Now If I get an acct transfer that improves my AUM.

did you look at my profile and purposefully put that in terms i'd understand? that was beautiful :)

i see what you're saying, i read it differently in your comment, but you're exactly right... i guess repeat business, in my mind, tends to be a positive indicator towards your services, and typically results in referral business, which that (referrals), by def., is organically grown

i get pretty good video out of my droid, but i do play with the settings and different apps quite a bit, as far as movies you can change the settings for downloads and media playback to download and play directly to the phone, i did with avatar just the other day to prove to my friend i could do it.
