Android Market apps, Latitude, calendar, and Gmail Accout Problem

Has anyone else had this issue? When I got my phone I loaded my Gmail account. It syncs my contacts and calendar and latitude works. I was unable to get any apps to download. Upon research I have heard of the work around by creating a dummy account and than use your original for you contact sync. This works. I can down load apps and my contact data syncs... But my latitude does not work and the only account that allows sync of my calendar is my dummy account.
I need my calendar and like latitude but don't want to have to have two accounts.
Is there another thread out there that clears up this problem?

I personally would do a hard reset and re-enter the gmail account...

Never seen this issue...
