Amazon Fire TV Gets a Big Upgrade of New Content Contracts

Amazon is obviously aggressively courting content providers. They just shared info on their latest upgraded content contracts and it is chocked full of new stuff. Not only is their new video content like MLB.TV, WATCH Disney Channel, WATCH Disney Jr, Animal Planet Live, and the WWE Network, there are also a ton of new games. These include: Flappy Birds Family, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Dungeon Quest, and Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse.

On top of this they also announced several other new content providers which will become available later this year. These include: WATCH ABC, WATCH ABC Family, NFL Now, A&E, Lifetime, Outside TV, Young Hollywood, North Face TV, Fashion TV, Green TV, and Dailymotion.

SEATTLE–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug. 4, 2014– (NASDAQ: AMZN)—Amazon today announced that Fire TV’s app selection has more than doubled, with hundreds of services and games added since launch, including the official Flappy Birds Family—currently a Fire TV exclusive game.

New services include WATCH Disney Channel, WATCH Disney Jr., MLB.TV, Animal Planet L!ve, and WWE Network, and more are already on the way—by the end of the year TV services such as WATCH ABC, WATCH ABC Family, NFL Now, A&E, Lifetime, Outside TV, Young Hollywood, North Face TV, Fashion TV, Green TV and Dailymotion will all be available to Fire TV customers.

Along with the great games recently added by developers, Amazon Game Studios’ Sev Zero—a Fire TV exclusive game—is one of the 5 most-downloaded games on Fire TV since launch. Since we got our Fire TV I've noticed a lot more options as far as shows & apps. My kids love it & it quickly replaced our Chromecast. Can't wait to see what the new Android TV will bring
