Ally update today?

My wife got an Ally last month. Within 30 minutes of activation it got an update to Android 2.1-update1. At noon today, she got a notification of an update. I told it to install, it downloaded, rebooted, installed and rebooted again. The confusing thing is that it still shows 2.1-update1. So far I can't see anything different. Anybody else get this?

LG Ally update

Yea i got the same thing about an hour ago. The firmware still says update 1 but I do see some differences like corporate directory, skype, my verizon and for some reason it changed the name of my livescores app and it would not open so i reinstalled it n it works fine.

Dead Apps

I updated my LG Ally Droid 9/21 and this morning everything seemed to work fine. Tonight I noticed my Skype app and one of my calendars won't work. I keep getting this message only on those two apps:
The application Android Home (process android.process launcher2) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Force Close

I Force Close over and over and tried powering off and still get the same message. The picture icon also has disappeared. It now only shows generic Droid icons for both apps.

I uninstalled the Skype app and reinstalled with the same issue. I don't want to uninstall my calendar because there's info in there I NEED!

I read on this sight you could uninstall Launcher 2, but I can't find directions on how to do so. I not very tech savvy and would need them step by step. If anyone thinks that would fix the problem or has any other suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. I really need to get into that calendar!

Many Thanks!

You can uninstall from the market. Just go to your downloads and select launcherpro and the option to uninstall should be at the bottom.

i am dealing with the same type of issues with my phone. I might actually be able to help with somethin here lol
Now, i'm still having problems with my email since the update but everything else seems to be ok. As far as skype if you already had a version of skype on your phone that u downloaded from the market-the update is installing skype onto the phone so the 2 aren't "meshing" now, skype cannot be uninstalled that i know of-i had to do a master reset to get skype off my phone, then when i repowered it i did the update and skype is there from verizon. all the other apps i had to redownload however all my old info was still with them. i.e. i use music wizard for my ringtones...had to reinstall it but when it came up after the download it still remembered the songs i had previously downloaded before the master reset.
I hope this has helped some, if i can think of anything else i will add it :)

Actually, I don't think reinstalling the apps will work. The same thing was happening to me so I reinstalled the apps. They worked fine at first, but when I turned my phone off, then back on, they returned to the very same state.

@joemama is it skype that you're still having the problem with or other apps as well? i wish i knew more to help, i don't use a whole lot of apps from the market, just the music wizard, skype, task manager, and 1 game-but they all came back to normal for me once i reset and got skype issue taken care of. It may be the apps you use are more in depth-again wish i could help. I don't get alot of apps cuz it appears from the reviews that alot of recent updates/upgrades to certain apps have messed up people's phones, no longer work or are not compatible anymore.

No, I'm not having trouble with skype. As a matter of fact, I'm having trouble with tv.com and the wikipedia apps. I don't think I've heard anyone complain about those yet. I"m just waiting for a solution to come up. Right now the only hope I have is waiting for an update for either the phone software or just the apps themselves.

Android 2.2 won't come out for the Ally for a while. My gf has noticed a lot of updates (almost weekly, in fact) when she first got the phone, so it could be LG or Verizon just tweaking small settings on the phone.
