All necessary directories on card

Sorry, I have searched and can't find this: what are all the necessary directories you should have on your sd card? I only have one called data. Is that right? Is that where I can dump pictures from my PC?

Necessary? I don't know about that, many apps will create directories on the card for you. The ones I would suggest are the ones that the OS looks for when searching for ringtones and media files.

Music
Ringtones
Notifications (for some reason Android considers them separate from ringtones)
Alarms

You can dump your pictures anywhere you want on the SD card. Creating a directory and putting them in there is probably best.
