Alarm clock very quiet.

Looks like there are many with the same issue: My old Motoflip A840 was waking up the whole neighborhood, but I could barely hear the Maxx this morning.

Sound was set to max and increasing tone. But the result was surprisingly weak.

Reading around the web, it seems that some have solved the issue by loading up alternate alarms.

-- Is it the final answer?

I had the same problem. Turned off increasing tone. No more problem.

I was reading the opposite on other sites, namely that turning on "increasing tone" would get the louder result.

I tried turning off "increasing tone" anyway, and this morning the sound was indeed softer. So there must be another way to get the sound up?

Ok, I am going to have to try experimenting with this because I have had the same problem to the point that I don't trust the alarm on my Maxx. First test will be to turn off increasing sound.

How about looking in settings/sound/volumes and adjusting the alarm volume.

Thanks for the tip. You were right, the alarm volume was only about 80% from Max (But actual loudness is only about 20% of what I was used to get from my old flipper!). I did not realize the Alarm had a separate setting.

I gave it a try with the Alarm setting at 100% but........last night the MAXX went through the ICS update....and this morning the alarm did not go off at all .....! So looks like I still have a lot of digging to do to learn how to get the alarm working!

It is only my third day with the MAXX. It looks like I am still on the very bottom of the learning curve. It is my first "smart" phone and it is way too smart for me. Was just starting to find my way through things...this ICS thing is not helping!

This might not work for everyone but I have this song stored on my phone and I use that for my alarm tone.

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's "Somewhere over the Rainbow"

I don't like being scared awake and this song is a wonderful way to start your day, I also use the increasing volume so it starts low and gets louder. This has never failed to wake me up even on ICS, again might not be for everyone but just a thought.

I use "you're going down" by the sick puppies.. lol.. just the opposite approach lmao

ICS came with a different set of alarm tones and I am OK with the alarm now. Not quite as loud as I am used to, but enough to wake up! Thanks.

Glad you were able to get the issue resolved.

Sydman, Aselin Debison's Somewhere Over the Rainbow is a beautiful version also. Would also be a great way to start your day.

Turning the phone over helps!

VZ sold me on a sturdy case (Otter) for the Maxx, and it seems that is is partly responsible for the weak alarm. The alarm is louder with the screen laying down. Looks like the hole for the speaker in the back of the case is obstructed when laying face up. Have to remember to turn the phone upside down when using the alarm!
