I have taken two trips in the past month and I'm finding that airplane mode "sucks the will to live" out of my battery. I read up on some forums and I am not alone. Has anyone found out why this happens? Seems like airplane mode should conserve battery because there is nothing running but the OS and whatever apps are open.

I am experiencing just the opposite. I use airplane mode daily as cell phones are not permitted @ work inside the secured area. I tried leaving the phone on locked in my locker. The signal searching from being inside a building in a metal locker would drain the battery fast. Since I started using airplane mode the meter barely moves and I don't have to reboot when I leave the security area for breaks and lunch.

Same here. I was in Mexico for a week and I lost maybe 10% in 7 days of airplane mode. Only used it as an alarm.

I've got some testing to do but I think Rhapsody is the culprit for the exponential battery drain in APM. Thanks for your comments!
