Aim reconnect

Ok, seems like everytime i go to see who's online on my aim account it has to connect which I'm guessing means that its not staying connected. Anyone know a way to make sure it at least tries to reconnect? Or another IM program to replace that does this? Only need it for this one service

I use iChat but I've found the "talk" app very convenient.

I've always been partial to Meebo. Mostly because DoD computer systems dont block it.... yet.
