what version of windows are you using exactly?

when you plug in your Droid for the first time it should automatically search for drivers.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate and haven't had a problem with syncing. Just wanted to throw that out there to try and help narrow the scope of possible causes.

when you plug in your Droid go to device manager.

uninstall the drivers and reinstall them.

Leave your Droid in a drawer with another Droid over night, it will figure out its mounting problem on... Oh.

Wait... No... Wrong mount.

Re-install the drivers. Be patient (do the old 10 count before you go pulling plugs and cursing). Be consistent in the order in which you do things.
