I have loaded some free message tones to my galaxy 2 but it only gives me the option to save it as a ring tone and I want it as a notification....how do I change a tone from a ringtone to a notification tone....our how do I save it there in the first place.

You go to the app that you want to use it as a notification. If it has a 'Notifications' setting, under settings, select 'Select Notification Sound'. You should see, 'System Ringtones', Zedge and maybe some others you have installed. Select Zedge and the ringtone you want.

I have this same problem. I have some mp3's on my droid razr that i would like to use as a text notification, but I only get the option to use it as a ringtone. I don't understand what you're talking about....

I don't know if MP3s can be used as a notification. Try downloading the Ringdroid app. It will let you turn any portion of the mp3 file into a ringtone or notification tone.
