    Is it safe to assume that z4root will not work after the update? I had unrooted my D1 for the update and now it appears that z4root will not work.

    Use SuperOneClick. Works fine on 2.2.1

    Doesn't using a one click root not give you a custom recovery? I would flash an sbf.

    I used Z4root on one of my Droid's as well as numerous others for friends and then used ROM Manager to flash clockwork recovery. Works perfect and couldn't be any easier. I would recommend to anyone.

    Can also flash SPRecovery using ROM Manager if you so choose!

    But without fixing it in memory on the latest builds it won't stick. I have a workaround fix for that.

    However, Z4Root will not currently work on the Droid post FRG83D.

    I see. I've never bothered with Rom Manager so i didn't know that it did that

    superoneclick is a windows based program. youll need to get it from the xda forums and install it on your pc

    The correct way to root a D1 is link 3 in my sig. If you use a one click root app and flash a custom recovery thru RM, your recovery will be overwritten by the stock one on every reboot. You will eventually have issues.

    Z4 Root worked on mine, my whole office unrooted and rooted on the sameday the update was availible granted I was the test subject,but all the same im rooted with no issues

    That's what I was thinking. I hear about people having many issues with the one click roots, etc. The 3rd link in your signature does it perfectly.

    Its not an app. It's software that you install on a computer. Look on xda for superoneclick and find the link
