    Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster.

    can someone please define the difference between "backround data" which enable backround data And "data enabled" which enable data access over the mobile network,

    I believe its the accessing of data over the mobile network that is draining my battery even when the phone is supposed to be snoozing, and why the phone takes 7 hours to charge to 50% from 0.

    you know its on when the 3g icon is visible. I used to think it was constaly sycing because I had facebook, weather, and rss feed widgets open. but even after I deleted all of them, those little 3g arrows are still constantly moving, updating and syncing I DONT KNOW WHAT!

    I just want to have my emails delivered to my phone in a fair amount of time, while also being able to send emails and have them actually send when I hit send.

    is there a way to keep the mobile network access on but set it so it not constantly working?

    In the battery options there is a option for the phone to stop sycning after minutes of inactivity. what does that mean? does that mean the phone will still have those 3g arrows working away for a full 15 minutes even after I turn off the display?

    can someone please help me with a fair and happy compromise

    Background data is letting stuff like email be checked in your back ground. If you turn this off, it wont be checked automatically, only when you check it yourself.

    Data enabled means you can access the internet and check email. With it turned off, all data to your phone is off, no internet at all.

    Charge your phone from a wall plug, not the USB, it charges alot faster than 7 hours.

    The batter options to stop syncing after 15 mins, means it will turn off all data to your phone after 15 minutes of non use, and will wake back up the next time you wake up your phone.

    UPDATE::::

    so I have the phone's data delivery options to enable access over the mobile network BUT NOT to enable data to be refreshed in the backround. so that means no email, facebook, weather, or rss updates unless I manually open their specific app. fine.

    but my question is, on the android power control widget, the button that is second from the right, with 2 circular arrows, this button turns ON the backround refresh, but when i deselect it, does not turn OFF the backround data refresh. I have to hit the menu button, go to settings, scroll to data manager, select it, then uncheck "backround data"...

    how come?

    its nice to sync everything with one button, but a huge pain to navigate to the data delivery setting via the menus to turn it off! also, the "my settings" app has the same problem. any solutions?
