I have no idea, but I'd sure like to know why you want to change the name of an app?

I don't like it that my app names are too long and fade away, it bothers me

The app name is part of the signature it has in the Market. You could theoretically edit them using the SDK and the adb shell, but doing so alters their signature and you wouldn't be able to get automatic updates anymore.

This isnt my area of expertise though.
