I am no longer seeing the 'new mail' icon in the notification bar. Anyone else experience this?

This may not be of any use. I had that problem with the normal email app. I had gmail set up on there, after I deleted accounts and then used gmail app for Gmail and set up two others on normal email app it started working again. So if you have a gmail account on there, that could possibly be it.

Uninstall - reinstall solved this.
