I don't plan on switching but you are absolutely right on this point. Most people I know think I'm crazy with all of the stuff I've done and keep doing to my Droid. These folks would be happy getting an iPhone because it's hip and as you say works with no fuss.

This is one of the reasons I stopped coming to these forums as much as I used to. People over here make fun of iFanbois, but Android users can be so much worse. I have yet to MEET an iPhone user that rips Android apart. But every person that I know who has an Android device rips on Apple every chance they get.

Everyone attacks how basic the iOS is, but that is what made the phone as popular as it is today. Sometimes simplicity gets the job done right.

Android OS and iOS offer very different experiences, but neither experience is a bad one. Let Apple do their thing and let Google do theirs, then YOU decide who you want to go with.

That is correct because generally speaking most people that go gaga over an iPhone or iPad is an image conscious metro-sexual in need of acceptance and attention. Where as those that use Android use it to use it and don't particularly care what people think about us. :)dancedroid

Exactly. Until I hear official announcements from either Apple or Verizon, these are just rumors like the ones that have been going on for years now.

Actually, this thread has been relatively civil - (Edit - outside of Darksiders metro-sexual comment :)) your post may have been the first mention of "fanboy" that I read on it so far. But I've seen the other side while reading comments on Apple oriented sites so you know it's holding everyone's attention and it's relevant. (And let's be honest that some of the rhetoric is supported or even STARTED right at the Top by Steve Jobs himself. Right?) But I agree with your sentiment, these two OS are not the same and offer us, the consumers, more choice which is good. Personally, I would not buy an VZW iphone (in its current form over a Droid option) but I will convert as many current att iphone users to Verizon if they ever offer one just so I can actually talk to them over the phone! But I also love the debate -- I see the iphone as the measuring stick for new smartphones - so I say, keep it rolling. I'm interested in hearing what people have to say.

Like your previous posts this one is full of your adorable opinions and the cute little stories you have read online, but again lacks any real facts.

Well when will android grow up from a VM to a "true smartphone os".... whatever the hell that is...

Don't be such a huge fandroid (it reflects poorly on the other members of this forum), the iphone has a higher res screen and much better battery life than any android phone... but I guess they're lagging... I love android, but I won't try to act like iOS sucks.... because I am not stupid.

3G speed probably won't change much if even at all. I bet starting in January, the unlimited DATA will not be an option anymore, because they will probably do the stupid tiered DATA plans.

Higher res screen makes ZERO difference in actual usage. You might want to read the reports done by optical specialists after Apple touted the "Retina Display". Just more PR crap to make people think they are more special for buying Uncle Steve's newest toy. As for a true smartphone OS?

    1. Real Multi-Tasking
    2. Superior memory management
    3. Superior Process management
    4. Open development platform
    5. Flexible
    6. Functionality across multiple platforms and form factors
    7. Tighter integration across multiple product lines (Phones, Tablets and now Google TV).

Those can NOT be said of iOS4. iOS4 is an OS made for a PMP that had some phone attributes hacked into it so that Apple could push the iPhone. It didn't start as a smartphone OS and it shows. dancedroiddancedroiddancedroid

Better battery life does not a better os make.
To me that was like writing iPhone takes a prettier picture so it has a better os.
    Fandroid. Good stuff :2thumbs:
Fwiw, had Verizon had the iPhone when my Omnia died I doubt I'd have my Inc but am glad I got it but anything is better than windows6 in todays smartphone world

Didnt Android phones have higher screen res than the 3GS? So in that regard the iPhone is playing catch up....

Hell, the Omnia 2 a Win Mo phone had a higher screen res than the 3GS and they both came out at the same time.

I doubt that the iPhone has much better battery life than the current Android phones with a 45nm cpu. Well, the phones with a 45nm cpu and LCD screen. (seeing how phones with Amoled screens under certain conditions can be bad on battery life)

U know what else is funny, folks just dismissing Android like its a POS....like RIM and Symbian. Like when the iPhone comes to Verizon Android is just gonna wither up and die...Like I mentioned before in another thread, this is 2010 soon to be 2011, not 2008. Android OS and phones have made some strides since then...

An excuse...this is my quote from another thread:
Please explain to me what one could do in that situation with a non removable battery....yea u dont need it all the time but the time u do u gonna wish u had it.

I had to go to work while the power was still out. I popped in my spare battery and kept it moving.

Ppl just dismissing Android, it didnt get all this market share for nothing. And to cut off the "many phones on many carriers" excuse, tell that to Win Mo; which is on probably more phones than Android...If the iPhone was truely the end all be all, Verizon, Sprint, T Mobile would be outta business with everybody switching to AT&T. Since ppl made informed decisions about the carrier they want, I think they will make informed decisions about which smartphone they want. Even on AT&T, the iPhone isnt the only phone ppl chose....ppl do actually make choices.

And ppl talking about Apple's marketing.... Verizon did a good job marketing the Droid line up and the Fascinate. And I also dont get the iPhone just works and Android doesnt. They both just work. If u put in the time Android can do more out the box. Thats all.

All in all, Android on Verizon will be just fine.

If you are prone to losing power you should have something like this regardless:

If you are not prone to losing power, then again you really don't need a backup battery.

    @UNC:

Ok, but ppl mention hi screen res like its something new just cuz the iPhone 4 has the highest now...

Speaking of the Devour, thats the great thing about Android: many choices, some high end, some midrange..some low end?

    @coondogg97

Thanks for the clip. I dont lose power alot tho but thanks for the info. Since I have 2 phones and only 1 charger at home I might look into getting this...lol

The spare battery, its not needed all the time, like I mentioned. Like a flashlight isnt needed all the time. A spare tire, donut isnt needed all the time.

But for the times those things are needed, they come in mighty handy...

You can't have it both ways. The iPhone has the highest res, so now y'all act like that doesn't matter... it has better battery life, again no love...

If the droid lasted 3hrs+ of actual usage more than the iPhone (the reverse is true) I'm sure some would tout that as the reason iPhone "sucks".

I'm not saying iPhone is better, but it is great, costs the same, has the most apps, and WILL kill androids incredible growth rate. If you don't think so, you're kidding yourselves. Android won't just go away, I never said that...

I day no iphone for verizon. They might release it with iphone 5. Launching in january will cause problems with the supply chain. I guess june is when iphone comes to verizon. By that time android will probably exceed ios if uncle steve don't ease up...

Thats funny about having it both ways cuz most iPhone fans said the higher res didnt matter last year......thats why I bring it up. Why even mention the screen res at all? If the iPhone didnt have higher res would u have even mentioned it? Like last year some iPhone fans downplayed Android phones having higher screen res. NOW that the iPhone has it its a feature used to compare to other phones.....

    Right.

Which Droid last 3+ hours less than the iPhone 4 with actual usage? Just using Anandtech's review:

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/3826/motorola-droid-x-thoroughly-reviewed/18

That comes out to 2.41 hours better for the iPhone 4, unless thats not actual usage.

    http://blog.laptopmag.com/android-battery-test-reveals-droid-x-lasts-longest-amoled-handsets-trail

Whatever browsing test they did got almost 8 hours out of it.....and please tell me how an extra 2 hours of battery life was gonna me when my power was out for 1 and 1/2 days?

U still seem to be dismissing the other carriers that have Android phones...the iPhone is supposed to only be coming to Verizon. I guess the other Android phones on other carriers sux that bad huh....the only Android phones that sell are on Verizon?

The iPhone AND Win 7 phones will both play a part in lost sales for Android. Like I said before, if the iPhone was the end all be all, the other carriers would be outta business with all the phone sales going to the iPhone and everyone in the country joining AT&T. Some ppl do actually like using a physical keyboard by the way...
