So I finally got sick of this bug, and with no word of a patch in sight for BB, I took matters into my own hands. I replaced the Phone and PhoneConfig apk with what was contained in Simply Stunning and everything works for me now.

For anyone that wants to attempt this, please post your results. I haven't had time to test that much, but it appears to work.

Download phone2.zip from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

Download this zip file. It is _not_ an update zip, so don't try to apply with clockwork. Extract the contents to the sdcard on your phone and using root explorer, move the two files to /system/app. Or if you're really clever, use adb push to get them to your phone. I rebooted just to make sure the changes took, and then everything appeared ok.

    Let me know your findings

    Cheers

You should probably fix the permissions before rebooting. You can do this through Rom Manager.

It seems like after Froyo, my tilt sensors (whichever ones are responsible) are less responsive. Particularly when going from protrait to landscape. When the phone has been in landscape and I turn it to protrait on a slight incline, it won't change until I raise the phone close to a 30 degree angle in potrait orientation. Would those sensor settings be included in these files, or just the proximity sensor that tells the screen to be on and off during calls?

I am assuming that you addressing the bug where after some calls the screen goes black and all you can do is wait it out or reboot?

It would be nice to find the exact line that was edited to fix this,...

I was referring to the screen coming on while you are talking on the phone if it's tilted at a certain angle.

    Never had that issue, . . .

The droid experience seems very subjective. Probably due to great variations in hardware used.

Didn't work for me. After copying the files I get massive force close errors, have to reboot the phone, after that get no signal at all and an unknown baseband. Tried flashing baseband update, didn't help.
