I was able to use wired tether in ss 4.96 but not in ss 5.00 I reinstalled and wiped Data and cache . Still same results I check the box it will stay for about 2 seconds the go away and the USB device reconnects.

This is the only issue I have so far and could go back to SS 4.96 but I LOVE 5.0 so any help is welcome

    The way I get to tether I go to settings>wireless & networks>tethering

From there there is tether and Help. The menu button does nothing (lines on bottom) If i long press on tether nothing happens.

I've come to rely on this because I provide on site support and can never get good WAN access at customer sites.

I would suggest loading Wired Tether...

Downloads - android-wired-tether - Project Hosting on Google Code

If it free and seems to be very stable. I am not sure that the tether built into this ROM is 100% baked with Gingerbread....

I have used this 1.4 version for three days now with no issues at all....

Just download the file and put it on your SD card. The open Astro ( or what ever file editor you use ) and install the app on your phone....
