So I started messing around with creating a boot animation for the new SS4.8. Its a work in progress, let me know if you all like it and I will make other colors or keep working on it.

*click on the animation to download that version

Great job! ! Can I make a suggestion? How about putting a red 4.8 in the center of the Chevy logo? Do it like a sudden bam and the 4 appears, then do the same for the dot and 8. That would be cool.

Installed grey one from recovery...didn't do anything. Boot animation didn't change. How do I apply this?
Tried blue one too. No luck

one last thing i just noticed you said, you dont install these from recovery like a normal update.zip. you just have to put it in the system/media folder and make sure no bootanimatino is in the data/local folder.

I just reuploaded them incase I forgot to change a setting. can you let me know if it works for you now? also, where are you installing them to (data/local or system/media)?

android checks data/local first, so if you have a different boot animation in data/local it will use that one. so make sure data/local doesnt have a boot animation and flash this one to system/media

move it to system/media using root explorer, then check to see if any bootanimation.zip is in data/local, if so delete it. then do a plain reboot. do not try to install it, just leave it as a zip file in system/media

@stabl, it needs to be in system/media or data/local. if you put it in system/media then you need to make sure data/local doesnt have a bootanimation.zip in it, if it does delete that one

***EDIT: I added update.zip files to the OP. you can install those like any other update.zip, you just need to make sure that data/local does not have a bootanimation.zip in it

But with the regular zips u made I made sure I didn't have anything in data/local and moved my bootanimation.zip to system/media and when I rebooted it just came up like a lil android symbol across the screen and then went to my homescreen like normal....of course it still did the m logo though...

sorry, forgot to mention that you need to make sure the permissions are set properly when you do it this way

if you use the update.zip's you dont have to worry bout this

This is an awesome boot animation! Had I not already put the Star Wars b/a on, I would jump on this (but I'm an R2D2 nerd from the late 70s). Now, if R2D2 popped up w/a Chevy 4.8 logo on him... <drool>
