So im running bb v0.5 and have a smoked glass theme. I want to try the MIUI ROM. would i install it the same way or do i need to take the theme off? IM kinda new to all this rooting stuff but im getting the hang of it. One more question when they say create a back up do i do that on rommanager? I did the superoneclick method from theunlockr.com if that helps any. thanks

Make a nandroid backup of your current, then wipe and install the new rom per the instructions on their page. There are people that say you should wipe 3 times. :)

    Yes.

Or you can boot into recovery manually and prevent RM from possibly wrecking your recovery and losing your backups. :)

If you already have the rom on your SDcard you can do it all at once. Boot into recovery, make a backup, wipe data/cache, install ROM, reboot and enjoy :)
