I'm headed there in a few weeks.
Take a look at this thread: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...7-verizon-unlock-code-wont-work-overseas.html
I am a new Verizon customer as of 2 weeks ago, and I'm replacing my droid on the 17th, the day before I head to Panama on the 18th. I hope Verizon can fix me up.
Verizon usually won't give out unlock codes unless you're a customer in good standing with on-time payment history for ~4 months.
However, you can pay for the unlock code from some online vendors (usually for < $20.) The unlock code is based on your phone's hardware ID #, so any vendor should be able to generate it. You might even be able to get the code from moto.
