I want to get 2.1, but I'm in no hurry and don't want to **** up my phone in the process of putting it on there myself. Will it eventually be available as an update? Or do you have to do it yourself?

Yes, it'll be coming like our last update. I'm hoping for the week of the 22nd, but I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks a lot. I'll just wait until then, though those live backgrounds do look tempting :p

2.1 always seemed to run slower than 2.01, at least on the nexus rom that got distributed. I hope they can improve the speed. Live wallpapers really slowed the droid down, which isn't too surprising as the Nexus has a faster processor.

That rom wasn't designed for the Droid specifically, so the official update will certainly run faster and smoother. I tried 2.1 and it was way to laggy and buggy for me. While you're waiting, you can easily install some of the apps from 2.1, such as the gallery, music player, and the app drawer that adds 3d like effects and 5 homescreens.

Oh yeah, I did that right when they released that rom. It works great, and since I really don't care about live wallpapers, I really don't have a reason to get 2.1.
