You will lose root. Only way to stop it is to install a custom ROM, freeze the updater file, or freeze/uninstall bloat.

You could also download the rooted .596 if you wanted to remain on the stock ROM

You will need to download the files from TBH. Then use the D2 bootstrap and install the files. After you install them, make sure to wipe your data and cache.

alright so now I understand a little better what's going on so I saw the video on you tube on how to switch to the gingerbread program. So now how do I determine what sbf software I need to use and what programs do I need to get on my pc to properly do this. Also what method is best fort backing up my info should I just store my contacts on my sd card or what?

You shouldn't need to sbf, unless you run into any issues.

Just download the 2 files if you are on Froyo, install them in order using the D2 bootstrap, then wipe data and cache. Reboot and you're done.

To backup your files, use Titanium Backup to create backups of your apps. You can use Google or Backup Assistant to keep your contacts.

To sbf though, you will need to get RSD Lite 4.9, the 2.3.340 Verizon system sbf file and the current Motorola drivers.

If you do, for some reason, have to SBF, your contacts will restore through your Google account (assuming you gave Google permission to back-up your info).

Forgot to mention, check your PM box for D2 bootstrap. Download and install that and then the only thing you will have to get now is the Gingerbread files.

Use the link I provided earlier in the thread to download the Gingerbread files. Download the 2 part files to upgrade from Froyo.

I sent you a PM with Droid 2 bootstrap. Just click the link in your inbox and download it. Liberty Toolbox won't work
