I just tried mine and it's working perfectly. It should show up as "AndroidTether" network. Try rebooting the Droid and see if it happens again.

I'm having the same issue. Rooted and running smoked glass v4 plus. Says all is working but doesn't show up on any devices capable of connecting to wifi.

I'm running sholes 2.0.5 and I can't get any other device to see my droid either. Ill try renaming the ssid. If not ill just wait till I install the next update and give it another go. Luckily its not a feature I use or would use very often.

I am running 2.0.5 and I am not having any issues with the WiFi Tethering ... in fact, I am posting this post via WiFi Tethering on my laptop.

I did notice that every time you reflash the ROM, you need to set up your network again. (Don't leave it at the defaults ... at least I would not do that as it would mean anyone could connect to your network and know what the SSID and paraphrase key.)

What should the lan setting be? I noticed that none of the options are chozen. I'm pretty much an idiot so could this potentially be my issue?

I was in the same situation as you guys and the only thing that worked for me was to go to this website Downloads - android-wifi-tether - Project Hosting on Google Code and download the latest version. I know it's listed as experimental, but totally solved the problem for me. I installed it and was immediately able to make the connection. I did not have to change any settings. It worked right out of the box.

BTW, I was running Bugless Beast 7.5 at the time and am now on 7.6.

Mines working with Smoked Glass 4.1 blue.

Funny some devices see it and some dont. Iphones see it, BB dont, PSP doesnt, Laptops all do.

I saw there was an issue with ShopSavvy and the Wifi Tether. Sometimes you have to turn "Find my Location" to off. It's in the Wifi Tehters FAQ list. Might be another app that is doing it also.

Just got my home computer to tether to my droid....its really fast tethered to my droid. Hell its as fast as my comcast cable.....who knew.....much faster than the droid itself? Still cannot get my wives phone too see it. Maybe her droid just doesn't want to get together with my droid  :eek:hmy:......I really won't use it but for a novelty. Really i just want to let the iphone guy at work tether to it for a couple minutes so he can see what its like to get coverage.....after I showed him setcpu and overclocking he was already fairly depressed about his iphone.......this should get him near the wrist slitting stage:icon_ devil:

i also had the OP's problem. i went in to the connection wizard and set up the connection manually and it connected just fine. however after seeing the post about the setting in shopsavvy i have changed that setting and now the laptop will find it...thanks for this info. i never looked for it b/c i had already found my own workaround but this works better...

To avoid opening a new thread unnecessarily, I thought I'd try here.

Yesterday I rooted and installed BB 1.1 and the sholes 1.2Ghz kernel. Everything has been working flawlessly but then I only test things as I read about people having issues, and guess what? I found this one.

My tether is seen by the laptop, it connects after putting in the WEP key, but it says "No Network Access" and is obviously not helpful.

Anyone have any ideas on this? I set up the tether settings per Matt's suggestion and after this thread picked a LAN setting and it didn't help.

    Any thoughts???
