Don't know if this is the right forum, but makes sense to me.

Saw a commercial yesterday for the Palm Pre and that it can be a mobile hot-spot for up to 5 devices. So you have to root the Droid to get it, but Verizon includes it on another phone stock? So I was thinking, not knowing anything about rooting, hacking, app coding etc, I was thinking why can't there be a "cross-over" app to the Droid? Is it total apples and oranges?

I'd say apples and oranges!! lol

No, I'd say you will have to pay for that service on the Pre, their is gonna be a tethering service for the Droid provided by VZW soon, but it will cost some money also

Android and Pre run vastly different application environments, so no official port is possible. So you want to pay extra onto of your data charges to tether your laptop? We're getting a free ride right now because they don't have any official tethering solution, if anything I'm just biding my time with the wireless tether until the official one comes. Then the waters get murky.
