Wifi Connect to TV?

I came from a Samsung Charge that allowed me to connect to my TV via Media hub and play my photos/songs. Is there any way to do this on the new MAXX?? I know people are talking about Miracast, but I don't see that I should need to buy a device when all of my devices connect to my router. Anyone have success in doing this?
