Wifi calling and trexting

Im going on a cruise this week for a few days. I was wondering if it is possible to make calls and send Text messages with wifi only?

Google Voice, Skype, and other VOIP tools will allow phone calls. Pinger TextFree and other free texting tools will allow texting over WIFI.

No, calling and texts are network data functions... however, gtalk or something similar, works off of data I believe, and you could use Skype for calls.. or even gtalk.... others with a better idea will chime in :)

Use groove ip to make calls. That is, if you have a Google voice number. That let's you make calls over wifi. Its just like making a call with your regular service. No video. Use the previous advice when it comes to texting.
