WiFi and gmail

My gmail has been working perfectly, however I've always left my WiFi off because I've heard when disconnecting it messes things up. Is this true or is it only true with non gmail accounts?

Is like to be able to leave WiFi on at all times.

I've never even heard of this before. I haven't had a problem at least...

I turn my WiFi off when I leave the house but leave it on while at home. Never had a problem with it messing with my GMail account. :icon_ banana:

my wi-fi cycles on and off depending on location, never had a problem with either of my email accounts syncing up.

Okay so I just tried with WiFi on then turning WiFi off. Seems to be a delay receiving email after the WiFi is shut off. 3-4 minutes as opposed to instant. I guess this is okay, I don't need my email that urgently. Hopefully, 2.1 corrects this though.
