Why does the Droid screen not auto rotate/orient 360 degrees

I know this is a trivial feature especially since you want it to face one way in landscape to make it easier for using the keyboard, but there should be an option for it to auto rotate/orient the screen 360 degrees so it can go upside down making it easier to show other people pictures ext. I mean the first gen i-phones even did this, and I thought my "droid does"?

Are there roms that have this feature or is there a program or way to activate this? Would be nice to have in froyo...

simplly stunning does this! sometimes it was handy, and some times the sensitivity of it drove me crazy =)

Many ROMs offer this feature.

However root is required, and a custom ROM needs to be flashed.
