This is an excellent article that will reveal some very interesting things about power draw while navigating. WARNING: You may not like what you read but it's very good to know.

Definitely an interesting read. Glad I have 3 batteries for the just in case. The extended works just fine though.

I've been using a setCPU profile, when charging cpu is set to run 350-920 interactive. This saves on energy draw and helps run the phone cooler in warmer conditions. Using one of the Motorola car charges no problem with the phone staying charged or for that matter slowly recharging after use once returning to the car and then using Google Navigation.

I haven't actually had a full NAV work day, but this has me concerned...very concerned. I hope Google figures this out and updates the power that GN can receive. Many of us are going back to work and will be travelling with these phones over the next few weeks. I am very curious to hear about adventures.

This actually makes great sense, i noticed the charge wont keep up with the Nav starting with the D1 and even my wife's iPhone 3g and 4 (i know i know but i still love her :p).
The only improvement i had at the time was a custom rom that was aligned to save battery. I'm sure we will find improvements for this right very shortly.

I bought a high output dual usb plug for the lighter. Phone will gain charge while navigating and streaming slacker. Can't ask for much more than that.

Which plug did you get? I'm still on the hunt for one that I don't have to go around breaking apart and soldering :-/

I have an outlet in my car, but always on the lookout for a good USB when travelling.
