So... I take it that you tried it, and like it?
I'd suggest try a few different ones and find one that you like, not what others like.
Install a ROM, set it up with all your apps, configurations, etc.. Use it for more than 1 day.....try it for a week. Make a backup and try another ROM. Set it up....run it for a few days again...make a backup and try another. You'll find one that you like the looks/feel of that way better and you'll have a better feel of it's overall use for speed and stability by using it for more than a day (or a few hours).
I really like my ROM since I compiled it (so I'm biased)....but there are some great options out there.
I used Simply Stunning 4.91 by ChevyNo1, along with his kernels. Very stable, easy to use, his Tools app is awesome, and he has OTA updates.
I completely agree with rcrews - you should try as many roms (and themes) as is practical, and decide for yourself which ones work best for you. I usually install a new rom or theme on one of my phones every weekend - because I get bored easily, and it's fun to do. Making a backup is critical.
Sapphire 2.0 coming around Thanksgiving according to cvpcs! I keep coming back to 1.1.1 just cause it seems to run the best on my phone.
Thanks for the update! I will be interested to see for sure. Sapphire 1.1.1 always did run great but needs some of the more advanced features such as power control option in the notification bar drop down, LED color notification selections for any application. CM 6.1 is loaded with features but they don't seem to be able to resolve fixing bugs and obvious problems at least for the Droid 1. Liquid v1.95 is a great ROM and really if Liquid adds certain advanced features and is rock solid and fast like it is now I may stick with that. Liquid seems intent on producing a rock solid, fast, loaded with features ROM focused only on the Droid 1. But I do have a desire to visit CVPCS Sapphire stomping grounds, I have always liked CVPCS development style except we haven't seen an update it seems like forever in Droid land
I'm leaning towards Liquid and WatermarkD. Just gotta work it out. Actually step up and just do it! I appreciate everyone input.
What is the best app for rooting 2.2 build FRG22D? I seeing that apps like Androot etc doesn't work with this build.
Z4root was good but taken off the market. Top Link in my signature.
Sent from my Droid using DroidForums App
I took the plunge tonight. I rooted my D1 with z4root and used Clockworksmod to backup my current ROM (default 2.2). I will be looking to DL Liquid tomorrow and installing it via Clockworksmod. From what I've read, I will LD the ROM change the file name if required and once that is done DL the theme I want (Watermark D) and once again use Clockworksmod to install it.
It's back on the Market I just LD'd it and it worked great.
