    What devices aren't locked??

Let's start a list of the new devices that are known to have UNLOCKED bootloaders once it is found out. This will set up one spot for people looking for their next device and trying to make a decision.

I was wondering. This is kind of a noob question...

Which Android phonemakers don't lock their bootloaders? I have the DX and I don't miss having a locked bootloder, but in the future that may not be the case. I had the D1 and I prefer the vanilla Android experience.

So I was wondering which Android phone manufacturers are most likely to release easily hackable phones for the 2011 generation?

I don't think any are more likely then any other ones. the D1 was an anomaly as far as I'm concerned, and I'm surprised that there is even a rumor that the Bionic will be unlocked (if it is, that's my next phone :icon_ banana::icon_ banana:) but I don't think we'll be seeing many unlocked ones from here on out, except the nexus phones

Motorola gains very little by unlocking their bootloaders. Nobody has cracked the dx yet. other manufactures will soon follow.

Don't want to sound like a quitter but I think moto won.

Also, good idea for a thread

With the exception of the nexus phones I truly don't believe we will see another unlocked bootloader, IMO. Hopefully I am wrong.

yeah i'd be surprised if it was, just relating what i've heard. i can't imagine any reason why they'd unlock it though...but then again, cant' think of any reason the og droid was either haha

It would be smart, at this juncture, if they made their bootloaders unlocked to make it hacker friendly on purpose. They need it to keep interest in the platform strong now that the iPhone is on VZW. onde of the biggest reasons people chose Android is because of Apple's "walled garden".

I am curious. I have the Original Droid and was wondering what you can't do on a phone with a locked boot loader. From what I understand you can over clock it and I thought that the Droid X had some custom ROM's. Could someone explain to me what you can not do? Thanks.
