    6.2? 7.0?

Has there been any word on anything from CM devs in regards to Gingerbread?

SDK is out today for those that might not know.

First of all Koush is no longer listed as the maintainers of Cyanogenmod for the Droid 1. mtwebster and another guy are now the Droid 1 maintainers.

As far as the latest Gingerbread Android updates on the Droid 1. We will have to wait and see what Cyanogenmod includes for this device.

Not sure what 'cooked' ROMS means... specifically for the Droid 1.

CM is built from source code, not the SDK, so don't expect a release when the source code isn't available yet.

Perhaps this section should be renamed?

Agreed, this really should be called CyanogenMod, not Koush. Seems like he's been out of the D1 game for a long time now.

I think it will be 7.0 since the update does do a system overhaul. Many things changed/improved. I don't think we see GB in Cyanogen 6.xxx

I don't think we see it on OG Droid either. But that is just my gut feeling. I think they will time it so that people who signed 2 year agreements for the Droid in Nov 09 will upgrade their device in 2011. Sorry OG owners. It just makes perfect business sense.

Are we even sure D1 will be supported for gingerbread CM?

    From Koush's twitter:

Doesn't mean much, it's just talk.

Droid is still the #1 phone out there, dropping it would be silly as long as the hardware can handle it, and the user base is still on top.

Verizon and Motorola most likely will not make it available, since their goal is new phone sales, not existing customer satisfaction, but Devs rely on existing users being happy.

The G1 should've been dropped when Froyo came around; it ran it terribly. But the Droid is still a worthy contender. I wouldn't put too much faith in a chatlog excerpt.

I thought that gingerbread wouldn't come out for D1 unless motorola releases it for the D1... is this correct?

Anyways, its highly unlikely that moto/vzw will release 2.3 for the droid 1. They want us to upgrade~!

there is a update coming from vzw as i saw on the main forum page. Dont know if its gingerbread. Also i think gingerbread requires 1ghz. So while vzw and moto may not release it, it will be made available to rooted users thanks to talented developers

The update is not Gingerbread! It is FRG83D. Another Froyo update for CM 6.2.

Technically if you're running CM 6.1 you have "FRG83D". That's just an ID code. The underlying code is still from Android 2.2.1 source which CM 6.1 is built from. So CM 6.1 users are already ahead of the game. ;)

I have no doubt that Droid will most likely get Gingerbread via CM. It's a very minor update overall. I wouldn't be surprised if Motorola upgrades it to 2.3 as well. Honeycomb though is a different story.

That is only true if you have a non-rooted phone and everything is stock as beans.

If you're in this section of the forum, I imagine you don't apply to that? ;)
