I've been reading about rooting my droid and I've came across different info. Some sites that have the file to root the motorola droid say you have to have a specific build number(or set of numbers) to root it. Then other sites don't say anything about specific build numbers and just have the root file. So, is the root file build number specific? Also, is fairly safe to root a motorola droid build # "ESD56" firmware "2.0.1" for verizon network? I know the later has been asked a lot and has many different views but I'm just trying to get a general concensus. Thanks in advance for any help, David

Pretty much any root exploit out there for the Droid works for 2.0.1.

Only certain ones work (correctly) for 2.1, depending on which code base you are using.
