ROM Manager is a way to dl'd ROMs but not a ROM itself. You'll need to grab the bootstrap app from the market.

So after using z4root. Just add whatever ROM I want? For example from ROM manager?

I'd also recommend Titanium Backup to save your apps (and their data).

You had to dl'd 3 different things for it to root and that's "easier"? Haha! ;)
I rooted 3 Droid Xs today using z4root and they took less than 5 minutes (reboot included). I've created some monsters at work now! Just glad I'm not the only rooted rep at my store now! :dancedroid:

DroidForums junkie!!

And im guessing they had the 2.3.340 update..

I did the manual rooting method directly from the phone since the steps I used were simpler and made sense.... As for the unrooting, it is very easy just 3 - 4 commands in your terminal emulator and you're done....

In-case the OP has not found his answer.. i HIGHLY HIGHLY Suggest you go to my thread, and Read about the steps you should take in order to load a ROM..

You should really read up on these things before attempting to just "Pull it off".. Things like -

(MAKING A NANDROID BACKUP!!)
(Knowing how to format data/cache)
(Knowing how to restore a Backup)
(Knowing your way around Clockwork)
(Getting familiar with what an "SBF" incase you need to do it one day)

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...ide-root-backup-roms-2-2-ota.html#post1024608

Feel free to ask any questions you have within the thread ;)

I'm very familiar with rooting the Droid one and all that you can do with it. I know the x is a bit different. So that's why I am researching and digging for answers.

At the moment I am hung up on what the better ROM is to install on my phone...

"Better Rom" is very broad IMO :)

What System Version are you on?
- OTA - 2.3.340?
- TBH - 2.3.320?
- 2.2 OTA - 2.3.15?

I am on 2.3.340 i am a huge fan of Fab's work.. the "Apex Line of ROMS" are very nice and top notch in my opinion. However some people dont like them. and love the "RubiX" line of ROMS.

Apex V1.0.2.2 = 2.2 / 2.3.15
Apex V 1.2 = 2.2.1 / 2.3.320
Apex V 1.3 = 2.2.1 / 2.3.340

- There are a few variables, to deciding what ROM you can even Run. ;)

Telling you what ROM is the best is hard.. its something you need to try out and find out for your self.

Do you like BLUR? Do u not care for it? Do you want a BLUR - LESS ROM?
