I have personally tried Sholes and Bugless Beauty.
Sholes - a lot of FC's (Force Closes) on apps and not very fast
Bugless Beauty - Speed and Stable - I highly recommend it

Once I changed from Sholes to Bugless Beauty there was no turning back. Bugless Beauty has everything your looking for and more. Check it out here => AllDroid - View topic - [ROM] Bugless Beauty [Stable] V0.8.4 (2/1/10)

I vote smoked glass blue version. No contest. I love the blue highlights and its very very stable. Just make sure you install it following his specific instructions (format the Cache and System folders). Its beautiful, fast, and the color scheme is AWESOME.

Here are some screenshots, some in GDE (which I prefer) and some with the regular 2.1 launcher.

I absolutely love Bugless Beauty, but the smoked glass ROM Wil speaks of is the only one I have not tried yet. Question for Wil... does the smoked glass ROM have all those things the OP listed? Because I know that Beast does, but if this ROM does too I might be willing to try it tonight

I believe 0.7.2 has more features than the other one, like the tether, and overclock options built in, but you can still get them another way Im pretty sure , but their pretty much the same thing so you might as well get the one that has the features built in from the get go ya know

Oh yeah. It has every option, I believe. Its awesome. It really seems to me that everyone (including me) wants the "bugless" version because of the name, and it implies that that is the version that has no bugs, and every other one does.

I' can attest except for one TINY issue only some people are having (which is changing the notification sound to a non stock notification sound which can cause the phone to reboot when disconnecting from USB) that this version is ROCK solid.

You have a nandroid backup of your current setup, right? Just try the Smoked Glass, you can install it within minutes if you are familiar with the process (which it sounds like you are) and play with it for a day. If you don't like it, just go back to your old setup.

I'm telling you, its great. I'm giddy.

Just to reiterate : Mutli Touch Browser, SUPER fast, great color scheme, All apps compatible (except for the notification sound I mentioned above, which most people don't even touch).

I also like the smoked glass ... mostly because of the blue theming, both launchers, and it just looks hawt. Speed tests I've done show it to be at the same speeds as Bugless ...

I went for beast because of built-in OC and wifi tether, but have found it to be absolutely rock solid, snappy, and gorgeous.

The new milestone music player kicks ass...coverflow effect if you turn it sideways on albums or artists, and *it overrides the lockscreen!* So if you're playing music and want to advance a song, hitting power button will take you right to it. Try and back out of the app and you'll hit the lockscreen, so it's still there...it just recognizes that if you have the payer running, you don't want to swipe to reach the player each time.

Anyways, major props and a few hard earned bucks to pete...I haven't tried out the other roms for a head-to-head comparison because this one rocks too much for me to leave.
