In the past week I've rooted my phone and tried several roms. The first was BB v1.1, I don't think it it fc'd too bad but I can't remember. Then I went back to stock. Then I got bored again and went to smoked glass 4.5, which was great but "home" fc'd too much. Tried upgrading to 5.0.1 when it came out and it was worse. Then went to the newest simply stunning and it fc'd on me. Also tried cyanogen's Eclair rom with his own recovery image and it was ok but the buttons didn't light up (keyboard or the bottom 4 buttons) so I couldn't do that, rather go stock if its not gonna work right.

So my question is what is the most stable rom out to date, really all I need in the rom is wifi tether, 5 screens, and 2.1 upgrades (keyboard, browser, weather & news). ????

Try my new ROM built from ERE25 - if you have issues, then flash the 900mhz kernel and see if it clears up - WILL require a wipe

Adamz's SmokedGlass 5.01 @ 1Ghz. No reboots or force closes, smooth as glass.

The latest Smoked Glass runs great for me, but it ran on the hot side until I threw in Chevy's latest kernel. All flavors of Bugless Beast going back to 7.4 have been fine on my Droid.

There are too many variables on each of our devices to pronounce one as the best, or with the least amount of issues.

I'm going to try BB first, then I'll give SS another shot. As for SG 5.0.1, I was running it at 900MHz, and even tried the 800MHz kernel and both fc'd... sad cause its a great rom otherwise.

How did you get the different Kernel on there. Same thing is happening to me with it heating up.

When you install the rom it gives you the option to go with a stock kernel, an 800MHz kernel, or the 1100MHz kernel

Yea I seen that and I went with the 1100mhz kernel... So should I reinstall and go to 800mhz.

You could, its possible it will help. It didn't for me though, that's why I posted this thread... hoping someone could give me some insight on what the most stable rom is. I'm sure how hot the phone gets plays a lot in the equation

Your best bet is to install Chevy's recent 1.25MHz kernel. The link for it is in the SG5.01 thread. I'm using it right now and it's staying between 15C-20C while OC at 1000MHz. Pretty cool to the touch compared to the AdamZ one... the AdamZ new ROM has been running smoothly on my Droid since I installed it the other day...
