Hey everyone. I'm running the latest version of Synergy and about a month ago I noticed these blue dots by my text messages in the stock messaging app. Sometimes they aren't there and other times they are. Anyone know what it's for?

I don't think it is. If it was an unread message I would have the notification at the top.

Could it be a "draft" notification? Sometimes before I close my messaging app my thumb hits the enter key as it's so close to the back button and I end up with a "draft" next to the potential recipient.

It's still there. There aren't any drafts. I've checked to make sure.

Is it the google account status for hangouts/talk?

Well, it's not Google talk/hangouts. I uninstalled the hangouts app and those blue dots are still there. I'm not sure if it's a favorites contact or not because I've sent messages to other favorite contacts and those messages didn't have a blue dot.

I hope you don't mind, I took the liberty of editing the image to blur out parts of the phone numbers for privacy's sake.

And check this: Green dot above time in sms folder. - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

I don't think it matters if you have the hangouts app installed or not, as it's simply tied to your google contacts.

Edit: another similar thread said Tango will put the same dots in there, if you use Tango...

I cleared the cache on my messaging app and those dots are still there. I thought they were for the new Google maps but latitude was discontinued so I do this think it's that.

That would make sense but I'm wondering why it's blue and not green.

I'm assuming Synergy has some gui tweaks that are different than stock? I never ran Synergy... but that's likely why based on your screenshot.

It's just weird. My hubby has hangouts installer and doesn't have those dots.

Do you have any other apps that can work as chat and/or video messaging? Don't know if you saw the edit to my first post or not, but another thread said Tango will also put those dots there since it links up to your contacts.
