What is the icon next to the battery for?

What is the square icon with a check in it for? Its on the status bar in between the battery and clock.

its the alarm clock. If you have an alarm set thats the icon for it. It really dumb looking for sure. But its supposed to be a minute and hour hand in a square clock not a check. Took me a bit to figure out but if you look at the blur icon for the alarm its almost similar.

It really was poor hand placement by Motorola unless they thought it would be clever to make the hands look like a checkmark.
