I am looking to try out a few of the Roms out there but which is the best build for the job be it for gaming or blogging or streaming media.

I am using stock FRG22D with root but I would like to see what is out there besides just stock builds.

I use both titanium backup as well as clockworkrom rom manager to manage my Droid mainly use titanium for fixing market links and forcing apps to sdcard as well as backing up data but I use rom manager premium to do the major backup and restore in case I do something that I cannot fix with titanium.

To each his own. You can follow the threads to find the most popular or try some that don't get the hype that have worked great for many.

Example is the Rubik 2.0 FRG22D that I took and threw on 928BlackGlass theme and it is my best combo yet. It doesn't get the hype but it's best for me.

I'm running UD 8.0 WatermarkD right now and it has been great.

You will find your favorites but ALL of the builders are just amazing. That these ROMs and themes are free is just mindboggling imo. Please donate. Many are Mac and cheese college kids who need to drink too!

I agree with most people here everyone is different.

If you want more user friendly go woth UD 8 has its own settings. You can apply these without having to run scripts but as far as a smooth seamless rom I switch to liquid frozen yogurt 1.6 and haven't looked back. This has been the rom I have found to have the least screen redraws and fastest proformance.

But trying a bunch of roms and kernel options is the best way to find what works for you and your droid because all droids are not created equal.

UDx8 hands down. Updated often and great support. Unlike other roms.

Just try then until you find "the one". Users of a certain rom are going to push said rom (sapphire anyone??), so threads like thus are pointless.

SHHHHHH! I've had my shots. Just going on personal experience.

And you are correct. Threads like this are pointless. Whats good for one phone may not be good for another.

What is wrong with having your own opinion? Go try a few for yourself and don't just listen to what a few people say.

As I like to say "I'm not running your phone, YOU are"

Doesn't matter what I think or use.

What YOU think and finally decide to use is what matters, period.

There are several ROMs out there, all have their pluses and minuses to each user.

For the record, I've only ran one, sapphire, before that I was rooted to grab the leaked 2.2 releases.

Once you settle into how to load roms, the process is quick, you can get several running and loaded with your apps, then make a backup. At that point you can switch out as you see fit. There are those out there who have one for weekdays, one for weekends, one for holidays, etc. :)

But really you need to just hit a few and eval for your own liking.

it all depends on you. I am running ss 4.7 with ss theme. Ive customized layout to my liking. Running chevy mv 1.0 kernel and overclocked to 1000 max/ 250 min....and it works for my phone.

My girl wanted to run ultimate droid 8.0, so I flashed her phone with that. I installed the chevy mv 1.0 kernel and overclocked hers at 1000 too...and her cpu temps run slightly cooler than mine (like 5 degrees or so), but her battery temps are a little higher than mine. I think this is going to lead to her battery draining faster than mine.

Really depends on your phone...your preference for layout and functions...and what ROM/kernel combo works best for your phones hardware. Each phone build will be different...so what works for you may not work great for someone else. Dont expect the exact same results for every phone.

I like both UD 8.0 and Chevy ss4.7. Both are great...UD 8.0 seems to be quicker on her phone. Not much of a difference really between my phone and hers in terms of speed/temp/etc...but the appearance/features are different.

Basically...its preference. Try different ones...cant hurt.

As others have said, try a few for yourself. Ive tried Cyanogen, Bugless Beast, LFY, and UD. All were fine for me and once you start theming, like most will do it often.

i'm glad we have so much to choose from. I wouldnt want to have the same phone, (iPhone) as everyone else.
