I've only tried cyogen and liquid. Liquid is REALLY nice if you overclock. Cyogen is nice and all but the way it looks isn't THAT nice. Hoping to hear about some new ones.

I just recently switched my Motorola Droid 1 from an older version of Cyanogen Mod to CM 7, but then shortly thereafter switched to Simply Stunning 5.4 for the first time and SS with a Chevy LV kernel has been truly outstanding; very fast, runs cool and battery life has been extended tremendously. My only issue as been turning Wi-Fi on and connecting to a non-broadcast SSID...if it's a broadcast name, I have no problems, so I can live with that. At this point, I am definitely sold on Simply Stunning with a Chevy overclock kernel!

As for looks, there are plenty of good Theme Chooser options out there.

You might wanna wait a few days for Chevyhow's new release.
But if you flash it now you can probably update without wiping data.
Go for it. It's a good build for sure.

How much better are these roms then stock? I'm looking for a good rom that will help increase battery life more then anything.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Ultimate Droid yet.

    everyone of them.

Ive been running rooted since before Froyo went live. IMHO every rom is the best, some just run better on YOUR phone then other and some have features that you may like moreso.

As for a Froyo rom. DC is the best of the best now. Its been running on my daughters phone perfectly for about a month now.

I enjoy Droid Concepts (even if I hate the boot animation). Gingerbread ROMs have never agreed with my phone (constant crashes when using GPS, hot-n-cold temperatures, general slowness).

Project Elite 6.5 seems to run best on my Droid 1....that's with the stock kernel......

If I go for simplicity, then it,s definitely Peter Alfonso's GPA16
    2.3.4gb build

They both give great signal reception for where I live

Yeah, Ultimate Droid worked well for me. I was running it at 1ghz with the Slayher kernel and it worked well.

But I am looking for a new ROM since UD is apparently not supported anymore. I am currently using Cyanogen but am not real thrilled with the 800mhz limit on its default kernel. I installed the Chevy Low kernel but at 1ghz it's battery life sucks, and it seems a lot less stable.

So I will either go back to Ultimate Droid or try a new ROM. Whatever it is it would have to be Gingerbread...I dont want to go back to Froyo...I dont care how stable it is. I like FINALLY having a 24-bit color desktop on my Droid1.

Try Project Elite, it's a very good ROM. I think it might even have an edge over LGB.
