    Like the title says...

What's the best free, or even paid for, weather app, especially good on the radar?

I had one that I thought would be great, but it had shut my entire phone down twice! I unistalled it this morning.

I use the Free Weather Channel App, but it does not have radar.

the weather channel is the best weather app, but radar now is the best quick radar app.

yeah, Radar Now, is the program I had running on my phone. I literally opened that program about 5 times. Two of the 5 times it shut my phone off. 2 others it said that "the meadia would be 1 days, xxminutes behind due to...", and ONCE it worked.

Are you referring to The Pay version of the Weather Channel?

And when in doubt, I always recommend to remove the battery, reinsert and try again.

Why not just use Weather Underground (Mobile) ?

It really works well, once you have the radar (animated or not) set for your area, just bookmark the site and save it to one of your desktops!!

I created a shortcut home page link to weather.com with the url specifically for my city, which launches in the browser. I find it is better than any of the weather apps.

I have bought weather bug elite and i would recommend this to anyone who wants a reliable weather radar... this thing helped me over the weekend when i am in florida... i exactly know when is it going to rain just by looking at the radar!

I use the NOAA Radar on my Browser...
Radar.weather.gov...it is the most accurate radar on my laptop so that is what I run on my phone..I will check out others though..I would like a one touch from main screen radar..as Storms pop up fast in Ohio

the weather channel widget does have radar. When you are in the application just press the menu button and then select "map." If it doesn't show your current location then press menu again and select "my location." Once the map is showing your location, then press menu again and select "map layers." At this point you can select radar as one of the layers.

One reason might be wanting an app that automatically determines your location (say, if traveling).

Is it my Droid? Why can't I find a radar that animates? There are great radars available, but they don't animate.

I find all the radar apps surprisingly lacking. I would think there would be a decent radar app out there. I've tried them all, but they just don't get the level of detail I am looking for. I'm outside on a long bike ride or a long run all the time, and I often need to beat some storms, sometimes by minutes. While a general overview tells me that it's going to storm, I am looking for county or at least metro area detail. I've tried the weather channel radar, and that lacks the detail I need. I know it can zoom, but it's just not as precise as I want.

I used to use this site on my dare:

    PDA Weather Products

here is an example of the detail you can drill down to:

    Radar Tile

(showing where rain is at the current moment)

The irony here is that this site worked great on my Dare, but the Droid won't animate the maps for whatever reason.

The map in Weatherbug Elite zooms in really close and is animated. Go to the map within the main program not the map widget for the zoom capabilities. Mine goes down to what looks like about a 1/4 mile. Also has layers, lightning strikes, alert boxes.. Pretty nice.
