Ok, so I've searched the forums, Googled it, even Wikipedia. I even visited the official MIUI development site. I still have no idea what is MIUI.
Could somebody lay it out for me, using small words and short sentences? Maybe just start with what does it stand for? Thx y'all-

Sorry about the title, couldn't edit it.
It should say "WTF is MIUI?"

Its a rom that was made for the nexus if I'm not mistaken, and has been ported to other phones such as the d1.. its similar to an iphone in the sense that it has no app drawer, just apps are placed on the home screens.. also, squareish icons.. i like the fact that it makes the icons look uniform, but so many people here are iphone haters.. there are a few more cool things about miui, just search youtube and check out the subforum here and try it out yourself

Ok i've never looked that far into MIUI but that's pretty sexy. Little too iPhone-ish for my taste but definately has some functionality.

Thats bullcrap...out doesn't kill battery fast. I get 18-22 hours out of a charge. You probably didn't calibrate your battery properly and assume it is the rom

Mind sharing where I might find this ROM? I am using the browser and man its fast! Wouldn't mind having a go at the entire ROM itself! Install as any other ROM I assume?? Thanks

yes, you will have to follow the install instructions per the code.google site where you will download. It is a wipe and flash. I also recommend going into partitions menu and format boot and format system. Not necessary to format the rest per the instructions as it formats cache and data when you wipe them...so..its just a redundant step.

Install...and set everything backup . You can restore apps with TI backup, but dont restore the data that goes with them.

Then as an added bonus...flash the blue steel theme...thats what I use. So far I have yet to see any other theme for MIUI hold a candle to blue steel.

Also...a tip. Charge your phone 100 percent when you flash. If you dont...calibrate your battery. You do this by charging your phone completely, wiping battery stats from advanced menu in recovery, use the phone till it dies from no juice...plug in and charge 100 percent...this will calibrate your cpu to remember your battery points. Some people were not doing this and complaining about battery life when their phone would stay at 5 percent for 3 hours. All they had to do was calibrate.

    Enjoy

Id be willing to wager money you didn't calibrate your battery and flashed miui without 100% charge...so your perception was the rom caused poor battery life and all you had to do was calibrate. Other ppl have posted the same thing as you.

I agree...love miui. Completely different than all the other plain jane versions of asop. Makes them all seem boring. I have flashed them all but nothing else since miui. Opinions vary and not everyone will love it but I do.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that.yes, miui is different and overall very enjoyable, but there are plenty others options that will run better and have less of an impact on the phones performance.
