How do you know what version of the OS is on your phone? When I check my settings, it doesn't give me a name on my Pro.

Settings>About phone>Android Version. It will be in a version number, not a name like Gingerbread or Ice Cream Sandwich. Gingerbread is version 2.3.

Ahh I see it now, I have the Android version 2.3.4 which I am guessing then is Gingerbread. What comes after Gingerbread? There has to be an H right? If the next version out is "I" for Ice Cream Sandwich.

Does anyone know what the most up to date version for the Android software for Pro.

2.3.4 is Gingerbread and the 3.0 series is called Honeycomb but was only on tablets. The current software for the Droid Pro is Gingerbread, not entirely sure which # it is on though, 2.3.(something).

The real question is what comes after jellybean? Not too many "K" desserts. Maybe Key Lime Pie? I don't think Klondike can work since its trademarked. Who else has one?

Key Lime Pie is what I've been hearing.

I would surmise the latter 2. Licorice sounds nice and assuming they do indeed use Key Lime Pie, it would be a break from having too many pie themed names.

So, after going through 7 pages of posts, I really still don't know what ICS is. I know it is an OS, but what is it supposed to do? When is it coming out? Will my Droid automatically update to it? Jokes are fine, but at least leave some helpful info with it too.

Ice cream sandwich is the next version of the Android operating system. The version most people are on is gingerbread (version 2.3) Ice cream is version 4.0 Version 3.0 is honeycomb and it was used for tablets. Ice cream can be used for both tablets and phones. It's faster, smoother, and has more options than previous versions. It also uses the dual core more efficiently then gingerbread does, if your phone has dual cores.

When will it come out? Good question. No one knows. It all depends on what phone you have. I'm on my phone so I can't tell what phone you have.
