Android FAIL!!! Hehe don't you know what Google is?

Froyo is the newest version of Android. Droid X comes with Android 2.1, Froyo is the same as saying 2.2. People are obsessed with having 2.2 on Droid X because it is way faster and better than 2.1.

Google code names the android releases with alphabetical, food related names. Cupcake (1.5) Donut (1.6 I think), Eclair (2.1) our version. Froyo (2.2), and Gingerbread hopefully late this year. I forgot what the previous names were.

There are some very nice feature upgrades that come along with it including easier email navigation, browser navigation features, etc. It also include the implementation of a piece of software code known as JIT, or just in time processing which makes better use of the processor/s. Upgrading to Froyo has generally shown benchmarking performance increases of 2-5 times over Eclair. I saw about double when I installed a Froyo ROM on my original Droid

Here's the press release:

Google Press Center: Press Release

Many users want the upgrade just because FlashPlayer is compatible, which many websites use for video such as CNN, NYTimes, and if you didn't already know, Android is for porn LOL

Don't forget Google. The first hit on a search for "froyo" has an article that explains it.

Thanks to the DroidForums community for answering this question to us noobs who weren't aware of Google's sweet tooth when it comes to naming Droid software.
