It's a compressed file, zipped up so it's smaller. From a Windows computer, right click the file and you should see the Send To...Compressed File option.

Good point CJM. I forgot about that.

I just assumed she was asking about zip files on a PC.

I thought Zip files were really fast files, they were originally called Zippy Files, but the name was kinda changed...

LOL, sorry, I needed to say that...
I use WinRAR on the PC, makes Zip or RAR files, and UnRAR Pro on the Note... Makes opening and making ZIP/RAR files...

I use 7Zip on my work laptop, works pretty good and seems to create smaller zipped files.

I have 7Zip too, but the RAR apps seem to work together better, at least in the past, as I haven't played with zips lately.

I don't think I have ever zipped or unzipped a file in any phone I have owned. But use it almost daily on my work laptop, since our team is spread out over 3 different states. Always sending files and folders back & forth.

Some of the ROMs for the Nexus were zipped, and some aftermarket apps too, been a while.

Well, in order to submit my idea to belkin I have to use a zip file to include multiple documents

You might have to find a file explorer app in the Play Store that supports zip functionality. One that lets you create a folder, place multiple documents inside the folder, and then zip it and send it. I personally do not know of any that do this, but other folks here might have app recommendations.

Ahhhhh. Ok so basically they are saying the do not want a bunch of attachments sent, just a bunch of attachments sent one time.

Yes. They want one folder, with all files inside it, zipped and then sent to them. That way they don't have to deal with multiple files and attachments.

No friends or family nearby that own a computer?

The file manager that came with my cheapo LG K7 has zip capabilities. I'm willing to bet that most other Android file managers also do.
